This week’s Photos of the Week come from Washington, D.C. where the I.U.P.A. Board came together for a meeting, to advocate for our members in our nation’s great Capitol, and for President Cabral and Secretary-Treasurer Crivello to bestow upon Detective Andrew Wilkiewicz from Milwaukee Police Association, I.U.P.A. Local 21, a mounted copy of a Resolution to honor his courage and sacrifice.

The Resolution reads:

WHEREAS, on January 13, 2022, you were off duty when a suspect attempted to carjack a vehicle with three children inside, and;

WHEREAS, the suspect chased the victim into a business establishment; you saw this crime in progress and the danger to these children and the community, and;

WHEREAS, even though off-duty and without safety equipment, you put your personal safety aside and intervened in this crime in progress, preventing it, and;

WHEREAS, you were subsequently shot twice by the suspect, and;

WHEREAS, even while critically wounded, you were able to return fire and stop this theft and kidnap, now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, your actions were in keeping with the highest traditions of law enforcement and a testimony to your courage and commitment to the men, women and children of the City of Milwaukee, we COMMEND and THANK YOU, and be it

FURTHER RESOLVED, your actions have brought great credit to the Milwaukee Police Department, to your representing union the Milwaukee Police Association, I.U.P.A Local 21, and to The International Union of Police Associations, which proudly presents this Resolution predominantly bestowed in recognition to honor your Courage and Sacrifice.
