This week’s Photos of the Week come from Howard County, Maryland where Howard County Dispatchers and I.U.P.A. Members were awarded the Gift of Life Award!
I.U.P.A. Local Howard County Public Safety Dispatchers Association shared a post, “Hats off to Brian and Dori on their accomplishments!” The post originated with Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services who included the below photos and said, “Dispatchers play a vital link in the chain of survival. When a call comes into the Howard County 911 center, staff quickly work to understand the situation and dispatch the correct units. If the situation warrants it, dispatchers provide CPR instructions to the caller to ensure that CPR starts even before EMS arrives.”
They continued, “We recently celebrated a positive outcome in one of these instances at our 911 center. Dispatchers Janna Blankenship, Alex Moreau, Dori Lefkowitz, and Brian Scherer received the Gift of Life Award. The professionalism and quick thinking of these dispatchers, partnered with the life-saving actions of our firefighters in the field, resulted in the survival of a patient in cardiac arrest. Thank you to our dispatchers for all that you do!”
