Photos of the Week: Quill and Badge Award Recipient Mr. Rich Roberts

At the close of Police Week, President Cabral honored Mrs. Rich Roberts with the Quill and Badge Award, awarded to her husband, Mr. Rich Roberts, I.U.P.A.’s PIO, posthumously. Rich began working for the I.U.P.A. in 1995 and served as PIO until his retirement in 2017. On this, in his award letter, President Cabral stated, “It is with heartfelt gratitude that we recognize the decades of contributions that Rich made to the International Union of Police Associations as our public spokesman to the press.”

President Cabral continued, “His unique ability to represent the American Law Enforcement Officer in the public light was unapparelled.  He alone created the “Quill and Badge” award to recognize those in the media that contributed to enhancing the image of the Law Enforcement Officer and became a much-valued award to those who received it. It is appropriate that we add his name, posthumously, to those who have received this prestigious award. His contributions will never be forgotten.”

Each week, the I.U.P.A. Briefing Room features a photo that exemplifies the valuable part of the community that our Law Enforcement Officers all across the U.S. are and their positive impact as well as their dedication, service, and sacrifice.
