Photos of the Week: 2023 Edward J. Kiernan Memorial Scholars

Annually, the I.U.P.A. selects impressive students who demonstrate both academic excellence as well as the desire to pursue studies and careers within the law enforcement and labor fields in order to assist them with the costs of attending an academic institution. This year, some extremely impressive students were selected. Their academic interests included criminal law, forensics, criminal profiling, and labor law.

2023 Recipients:

  • Carolina Vazquez-Bello of Pembroke Pines, Florida
  • Amanda Hergenreder of Sarasota, Florida
  • Haley Stewart of Denham Springs, Louisiana
  • Emerson Toole of Vero Beach, Florida
  • Brooke Olson of Vancouver, Washington
  • Emilee Miller of Sarasota, Florida

Some of the students sent thank you cards and letters to the I.U.P.A. Brooke Olson wrote, “Thank you so much for this scholarship! It is a huge deal to me and will help a lot going toward my academic pursuit this upcoming year! This is an amazing opportunity and I really appreciate it.”

Emerson Toole wrote, “Thank you so much for giving me the Edward J. Kiernan Memorial Scholarship! I am so grateful for the opportunity I have with going to FIU, and this will help me so much!”

Emilee Miller wrote, “I would like to say a special thank you to the I.U.P.A. Board of Directors for awarding me the 2023 Kiernan J. Kiernan Memorial Scholarship and aiding me in my academic pursuit of Criminal Justice!”

Each week, the I.U.P.A. Briefing Room features a photo that exemplifies the valuable part of the community that our Law Enforcement Officers all across the U.S. are and their positive impact as well as their dedication, service, and sacrifice.
