Common research assignments include:

  • Research reports on a variety of topics that concern our locals and our members

There have been stories in the news about the Sig Sauer P320 firing without someone pulling the trigger. WCNC News reported, “Amid growing fears that the Sig Sauer P320 can fire without someone pulling the trigger, leading to injuries and even deaths, some police departments nationwide are reevaluating their use of the handgun.” They also reported, “Airman Brayden Lovan, 21 died from a gunshot wound on July 20 at Francis E. Warren Air Force Base near Cheyenne, Wyoming, after a firearm discharged. The airman carried the military version of the P320 handgun, a Sig Sauer M18 pistol.” You can read more of the story here.

The I.U.P.A. Research Department is conducting a survey to determine whether there is an issue as reported with the Sig Sauer P320. Please take a few minutes to take our survey, so that we may collect the data and determine more on this topic.
