Port Orange Police Association, I.U.P.A. Local #6051 voted 70 to 3 to approve their new re-opener agreement! Port Orange Police Association, I.U.P.A. Local #6051 Board Members worked with Kyle Totten, I.U.P.A. Business Agent, to negotiate wage increases with the City of Port Orange.

Details of Re-opener for Contract Expiring September 30, 2026:

  • Starting pay increased by $0.75 hourly
  • Significant raises for officers designed to reduce compression
  • 2% increase for sergeants
  • $75 a month in incentive pay for School Resource Officers

Raises for some officers who were long-time victims of compression increased as much as 11% and 14%! Wages are now comparable to other well-paid agencies in the area.

These wage increase achievements follow on the heels of the agreement from last year in which they achieved:

  • Pay raises
  • The ability to receive their pension at 20 years of service, rather than the 25 years of service required previously
  • A Line of Duty Death (LODD) benefit written into the contract that allow for the families of officers who are killed in the line of duty to receive their benefits.

The need for the LODD benefit became apparent in August of 2021 when Justin White, the former president of Port Orange Police Association, #6051, died in the line of duty before he had served long enough to qualify for his pension.
