I.U.P.A. Attorney Michael Finesilver with I.U.P.A. Local 6020 from Broward County, Florida have just successfully negotiated a contract reopener!

On this auspicious occasion, President Dan Rakofsky stated, “Improving wages has been the number one priority for our members, and our efforts to pave the way for this raise over the past two years will now greatly benefit the bargaining unit, as well as being in the best interests of the Broward Sheriff’s Office to continue to recruit and retain quality law enforcement officers.”

I.U.P.A. Local 6020 Negotiations Achievements:

  • The contract reopener institutes new pay scale based on an independent salary study which was inspired by I.U.P.A. Local 6020 leadership.
  • Raises under the new salary schedule equate to a minimum of almost 14% over 13 months, and for many members in their earlier years of service equate to 33% over that same period of time.

Although the reopener was effective on 10/1/25, conflicts between the Sheriff and the Broward County Commission have delayed the funds pending the intervention of Governor DeSantis.
