Members from I.U.P.A. Locals across the United States participated in Read Across America Week this year!

Fort Myers Police Officers Association, I.U.P.A. Local #6065 Members read to elementary school children. Fort Myers Police Department shared about it on social media, “Fort Myers Police officers joined students for Reading Across America, celebrating the joy of books and learning. Pictured here are Mayor Kevin Anderson, Principal Dr. Millins, Jason Dunning from Gulf Coast News, Grampa Cop Ralph Cintron, Officer Gonzalez, Officer Vicioso, and Officer Vasallo.”

Salt Lake Valley Law Enforcement Assn., I.U.P.A. Local #77 Members had story time with local kids. Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office posted about it, “And That’s a Wrap on Read Across America Week! Last week, our deputies had the opportunity to visit students at Blessed Sacrament Catholic School to celebrate National Read Across America Week by reading books to the children.”

They continued, “Programs like this are about more than just reading a book—they’re about building connections, inspiring young minds, and strengthening the relationships we have with the community we serve. Thank you to the students and staff for the warm welcome. We had a wonderful time!”

Prince William County Police Association, I.U.P.A. Local #5010 Member First Sergeant McCleese read to kids as well. Prince William County Police Department shared on social media, “1st Sgt. McCleese was a guest reader at Kilby Elementary School to celebrate Read Across America this week. Kilby’s excited little bookworms were all eyes and ears as our officer shared a story with them. Moments like these build trust, spark imagination, and strengthen our community. He says “Seeing their excitement as the story unfolded, hearing their laughter, and answering their questions was truly the highlight of my day. Reading is powerful!” ”
