Shreveport Police Union, I.U.P.A. Local #275 Members visited several schools to host the Heroes of Kindness Program for local kids.
Shreveport Police Department posted about it on social media, “Last week, Shreveport Police Community Liaison Officers, along with our Neighborhood Assistance Team members, visited several Caddo Parish schools to host our Heroes of Kindness program. 💙 The goal was simple but powerful — teach our young people how to make kind choices and take kind actions every single day.”
They continued, “We kicked things off with a Kindness Circle, where each student shared something positive about the person standing next to them. Smiles spread quickly around the room. From there, our CLOs and NATs stepped into ‘actor mode,’ performing real-life scenarios students may encounter — bullying, feeling left out, losing a lunch, tripping and falling, or simply having a bad day. The students would call out ‘Action!’ to begin the scene… and then ‘Cut!’ to pause and talk through the kind way to handle the situation. After discussing better choices, our officers acted out the improved response.”
They continued, “The kids were engaged, excited, and eager to participate — and they didn’t hold back when it was time to shout ‘Cut!’ 🎬 To wrap it all up, every student took the Kindness Oath: ‘I promise to use kind words, kind actions, and kind choices to make our classroom a better place.’ And of course, we sent everyone home with goody bags as a reminder that being a hero doesn’t require a cape — just kindness.”
They closed with, “We are proud of the work our officers continue to do inside our schools, helping shape the next generation one positive interaction at a time. 💙”
Each week, the I.U.P.A. Briefing Room features a photo that exemplifies the valuable part of the community that our Law Enforcement Officers all across the U.S. are and their positive impact as well as their dedication, service, and sacrifice.
