I.U.P.A. Members across the nation honor and remember fallen officers all year long, but most especially in May and during Police Week. Many know one or more officers personally who have been killed whose memory they carry with them.

Salt Lake Valley Law Enforcement Assn., I.U.P.A. Local #77 Members attended a ceremony at the Fallen Officer’s Memorial. Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office commemorated the occasion on social media, “Today, we honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our community. Our Fallen Officer’s Memorial stands as a solemn reminder of their courage, dedication, and unwavering commitment to protecting others. We will never forget their service, and we continue to carry their legacy forward each day.” You can view the video here.

Tacoma Police Union, I.U.P.A. Local #6 Members who are part of the Tacoma Police Honor Guard visited the Washington State Law Enforcement Memorial. The Tacoma Police Department shared about it on social media, “Members of the Tacoma Police Honor Guard had the privilege of attending the Washington State Law Enforcement Memorial this afternoon at the state capitol in Olympia. The memorial is a way of honoring the officers who have lost their lives in service to their communities.”

Coalition of Police, I.U.P.A. Local #911 Members who are part of the Constable Mark Herman’s Honor Guard Team took part in a ceremony of remembrance for fallen officers. Mark Herman, Harris County Constable Precinct 4 posted about it on social media, “Yesterday, Constable Mark Herman’s Honor Guard Team proudly stood in remembrance at the Harris County Fallen Deputy Memorial held at the Crime Stoppers Building.”

They continued, “The ceremony honored those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty—heroes whose courage, service, and dedication will never be forgotten.  Their legacy lives on through every call answered, every life protected, and every deputy who continues to serve in their honor. We remember. We honor. We carry their mission forward.”

Virginia Beach P.B.A., I.U.P.A. Local #34 honors officers during Police Week every year and all year long by honoring them during Police Week in Virginia Beach, VA and Washington, D.C.; and at the Virginia Beach Law Enforcement Memorial in Virginia Beach each time they pass the anniversary of a fallen officer from their department. One such post recently read, “Today, we placed a wreath at the Virginia Beach Law Enforcement Memorial to honor and remember the sacrifice of Police Officer Allen Gimbert. EOW May 3 1923 #neverforget.”

Recently, they also posted, “Today we honored the service of MPO David Nieves by placing a wreath at the 2nd precinct in his memory. Due to the inclement weather, we were unable to place the wreath at the oceanfront memorial, but our commitment to #neverforget remains.”

The I.U.P.A. honors and remembers fallen Law Enforcement Officers during Police Week, on Peace Officers Memorial Day, and every day.
