Fort Myers Police Officers Association, I.U.P.A. Local #6065 Members recently participated in a number of events with the Fort Myers community.
Fort Myers Police Department shared about it on social media, “Chief Fields and the Community Engagement Bureau visited Allen Park Elementary to recognize the students who took part in the #FMPDPushUpChallenge. We’re proud of these students for their hard work and enthusiasm. A special thank you to @bakedchicagopizzeria for generously donating pizzas to help celebrate their accomplishment.”
The department also shared about their Citizens Police Academy, “The Fort Myers Police Department Citizen Police Academy is in full swing. Participants recently got a behind-the-scenes look at demonstrations from our Marine Unit and K9 Unit, highlighting some of the work our officers do every day to keep the city safe.” Watch the video here.
The department shared again about the academy, “Our Citizen Police Academy participants took part in active shooter response drills and worked alongside detectives and crime scene investigators to learn how scenes are processed and cases are built from the ground up.” Watch the video here.
Another post about the academy focused on the SWAT Team, “Members of our Citizen Police Academy got an up-close look at our SWAT team in action during a recent demonstration. Officers also spent time teaching kids about police work and warning them how to avoid dangerous decisions and behaviors that can lead to trouble. The department posted about it on social media, “Sergeant Dominique, Officer Gonzalez, Officer King and Grampa Jackie conducted a presentation at Edison Park on safe Internet practices, speaking with students about responsible online behavior, digital safety, and making smart choices on social media.”
They closed with, “Following the presentation, they challenged the students to unplug from the Internet and social media for an entire weekend and the students delivered. Thanks to a generous donation of 20 pizzas from DHOP, we were able to celebrate their accomplishment. We’re proud of these students for stepping up to the challenge and making it happen.”
Each week, the I.U.P.A. Briefing Room features a photo that exemplifies the valuable part of the community that our Law Enforcement Officers all across the U.S. are and their positive impact as well as their dedication, service, and sacrifice.
