Tacoma Police Union, I.U.P.A. Local #6, WA Member Sergeant Kelly Custis leads the Explorer program at Tacoma Police Department that recently competed in the King County Patrol Day Challenge!

Tacoma Police Department shared about it on social media, “SHOUT OUT TO OUR TPD EXPLORERS!  From April 10–12, the Tacoma Police Explorer Program sent six of our Explorers to compete in the King County Patrol Day Challenge—a three-day event focused on real-world law enforcement scenarios.”

They continued, “Explorers took part in hands-on mock scenes including building searches, crisis intervention, domestic disputes, collision investigations, and even an obstacle course. They also had the opportunity to learn from specialized demonstrations like Forensics, DUI processing, and K9 operations.”

They closed with, “The event brought together over 50 Explorer participants from approximately 10 agencies across Washington, all part of the Washington Law Enforcement Exploring Advisors program—an organization dedicated to providing meaningful, career-focused experiences for youth interested in law enforcement. We’re proud of our Explorers for representing Tacoma and continuing to build their skills, teamwork, and leadership.”

Each week, the I.U.P.A. Briefing Room features a photo that exemplifies the valuable part of the community that our Law Enforcement Officers all across the U.S. are and their positive impact as well as their dedication, service, and sacrifice.
