Virginia Beach P.B.A., I.U.P.A. Local #34 held their annual Brad Harper Memorial Golf Tournament, raising $3,000 for the Law Enforcement Officers Relief Fund (LEORF).
Virginia Beach P.B.A., I.U.P.A. Local #34 posted about it on social media, “Scenes from yesterday’s golf tournament. We had a perfect day from start to finish. Thank you to our sponsors and donors. Thank you to the players and volunteers. But mostly, thank you to Mr. And Mrs. Harper for joining us.”
Virginia Beach P.B.A., I.U.P.A. Local #34 holds the Brad Harper Memorial Golf Tournament every year to honor the life and sacrifice of Virginia Beach Police Officer, and United States Marine Corps Sergeant, Bradley (Brad) J. Harper who was killed in action on August 3, 2005 while serving in Iraq.
Funds raised at the Brad Harper Memorial Golf Tournament go to very good causes, this year to the Law Enforcement Officers Relief Fund (LEORF). LEORF provides immediate assistance to the families of officers killed in the line-of-duty or critically injured. LEORF is a 501(c)3 organization, so all donations are tax deductible.
On why they chose LEORF this year, Virginia Beach P.B.A., I.U.P.A. Local #34 Executive Director Brian (Lucky) Luciano stated, “Our reasoning for dedicating the funds from the tournament to LEORF was because Virginia had unfortunately benefited from LEORF this past year and we wanted to pay a little of that forward for someone else who would find themself in need.”
On this, I.U.P.A. President Sam A. Cabral stated, “We appreciate the donation to LEORF immensely and will use the funds to assist the families of those killed in the line-of-duty and the officers who have been critically injured in the line-of-duty. Our hearts are heavy for those who knew Virginia Beach Police Officers Cameron Robert Girvin and Christopher M. L. Reese along with their families and their fellow officers. We hope that the funds provided by LEORF afforded some support at a time when it was needed most.”
Each week, the I.U.P.A. Briefing Room features a photo that exemplifies the valuable part of the community that our Law Enforcement Officers all across the U.S. are and their positive impact as well as their dedication, service, and sacrifice.
Submit your photos today to be considered for the photo of the week next week to alinaj@iupa.org.
