It is with a heavy heart that we share that one of our brothers in blue, Port Orange Police Officer Justin White, President of I.U.P.A. Local Port Orange Police Association, husband, and father has fallen gravely ill with COVID-19.

Justin has been placed on a ventilator and they are starting him on dialysis. Our hearts are with Carlyn and their four beautiful children as well as Justin’s brothers and sisters in blue in Port Orange Police Department. A gofundme has been started to assist his family with the considerable expenses associated with his care. Please donate and share the link with others so that they can do the same.

Justin coaches youth sports for the City of Port Orange, Florida. He owns and operates a dog training business. Saturday, July 31, 2021 was his fifteenth anniversary with the Port Orange Police Department.

Justin is one of two officers who was appointed to the position of Dual-Purpose K9 Handler. During his nine years serving in the K9 program, for which he was instrumental in developing, he served as Lead K9 Handler and became the department’s first Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) Certified K9 Instructor.

Justin was chosen to serve on the newly established Crime Suppression Team (CST), which was developed in direct response to addressing the sudden increase in crime. Within the first couple of months, crime had dropped significantly. He served as a Team Leader and remained on this successful team the entire time it was in operation.

Some of Justin’s notable achievements include establishing K9 handler tryouts, rewriting a relevant K9 policy, and training K9 handlers according to FDLE requirements. In addition, he was proactive in strengthening community relations through K9 demonstrations and through the development of the “Name the K9 Contest” which invited the Port Orange elementary schools to name the department’s new K9s.
