Photos of the Week from Bel Air, Maryland: Y Turkey Trot

I.U.P.A. Local Bel Air Police Association Board Member Keith Smithson organized and oversaw the Y Turkey Trot fundraiser in Bel Air, Maryland on Thanksgiving this year that raised funds to support the Y Open Doors Fund. The Y Open Doors Fund is a fund that provides funding for financial assistance for Y membership to those who cannot afford it. Information about the fund is available here.

The Y in Central Maryland operated turkey trots all over the state in Arnold, Baltimore, Bel Air, Ellicott City, Towson, Westminster, and online virtually for those who could not attend in person in those locations. In Bel Air, there were approximately 1,500 members of the community who participated, including members of I.U.P.A. Local #229 and members of their police department. Overall, 13,000 people participated.  See below for photos of the event in Bel Air in which racers wore festive Thanksgiving and Christmas-themed costumes in this fun-filled annual tradition.

Each week, the I.U.P.A. Briefing Room features a photo that exemplifies the valuable part of the community that our Law Enforcement Officers all across the U.S. are and their positive impact as well as their dedication, service, and sacrifice.
