Photos of the Week: Top Cops Awards

Yonkers Police Department posted about the Top Cops Awards event in Washington, D.C. where Detective Brian Menton and his brothers who work in the FBI’s Westchester County Safe Streets Task Force were all recognized. On April 20, 2022, Detective Menton was shot in the line-of-duty while effecting the arrest of ghost-gun traffickers, one week shy of his intended retirement. He has since retired and recovered from his injuries. His brothers were recognized for the same heroic incident. You can read more about that incident in this article as well as this article, which shares that his twin brother was the one who rushed him to the hospital that day.

While in D.C., the officers and other members of the Yonkers Police Department visited the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial. In their post, they shared, “While in D.C., we visited the solemn National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial to pay our respects and observe the inscription of our dearly departed Detective Sergeant Frank Gualdino, who was killed in the line-of-duty this past December. RIP Furby.”

Each week, the I.U.P.A. Briefing Room features a photo that exemplifies the valuable part of the community that our Law Enforcement Officers all across the U.S. are and their positive impact as well as their dedication, service, and sacrifice.
