Photos of the Week: Red Ribbon Campaign

I.U.P.A. Local Lawton Police Officers Assn., #24 Members Officer B. Adams, Officer C. Patterson, and Officer C. Hally along with Officer R. Miles, Officer R. Puccino, K9 Yazzy, K9 Baby, and K9 Juliet participated in Red Ribbon Week by putting on events all week for the Red Ribbon Campaign!

Lawton Police Department posted the below photos and messages during the week to share about it.

Post on October 23: “Red Ribbon Week is an alcohol, tobacco, and other drug and violence prevention awareness campaign observed annually in October in the United States. On the first day, the Lawton Police Department and the Lawton Public Schools Police Department spoke to our youth about the dangers of illegal narcotics. A huge shoutout goes to McGruff the Crime Dog for stopping by and giving safety tips to our schools!”

Post on October 24: “The Red Ribbon Campaign serves as a catalyst to mobilize communities, educate our youth and encourage participation in drug prevention activities. On day two, the Lawton Police Department and the Lawton Public Schools Police Department demonstrated how powerful a canine nose really is. A huge shoutout goes to McGruff the Crime Dog for stopping by and giving safety tips to our schools!”

Post on October 25: “Red Ribbon Week takes place each year from October 23rd through October 31st. On day three, the Lawton Police Department, Lawton Public Schools Police Department, and Comanche County Sheriff’s Department made a visit to MacArthur Middle School and spoke about the dangers of illegal narcotics. Ofc. Adams and K9 Yazzy even demonstrated an apprehension in the event they are called to a felony crime.”

Post on October 26: “Being involved in the community is a top priority for the Lawton Police Department. Sgt. Dimmitt was a guest speaker for the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA). FCCLA is a Career and Technical Student Organization that functions as an integral part of the Family and Consumer Sciences education curriculum and operates within the school system. Together we can make a difference!”

Post on October 30: “The 2023 Red Ribbon Campaign Theme this year is “Be Kind to Your Mind”. The Lawton Police Department and Lawton Public Schools Police Department talked about the dangers of illegal narcotics. Officers even showed our youth how a canine will detect the odor of illegal narcotics.”
