I.U.P.A. Local Washington Council of Police and Sheriffs Law Enforcement Associates, #27 was present when key legislation affecting Washington State first responders was signed into law.

Washington Council of Police and Sheriffs Law Enforcement Associates posted on social media about the momentous occasion, “This week we were there when Governor Jay Inslee signed into law an act supporting first responder wellness and peer support.  Thanks to Representative Lauren Davis, the state has pulled together a 5-year task force to monitor existing state funded wellness efforts and to compile guidance for future legislative activity on these priority issues.”

They continued, “This being National First Responder Wellness week, the timing of this bill’s signing is a reminder to the state just how important the whole health of our state’s first responders is. WACOPS will have a seat on the task force and we look forward to the first meeting later this summer.”
