I.U.P.A. Local Las Vegas Police Protective Assoc. Civilian Employ., #232 Members were recognized by Las Vegas Metro Police Department on social media through several posts. One featured a video you can watch here, “ULTIMATE TEAMWORK: It took many sections of our department to rescue K9 Enzo from the stabbing that almost took his life on March 29. What you didn’t hear, until now, was the unbelievable efficiency and professionalism of LVMPD 911 Communications.”

They continued, “During this high-stakes event, LVMPD Dispatcher Alicia Rivera was on the radio taking in the urgent radio traffic from K9-5, Enzo’s Handler. Alicia was coordinating resources, working with supervisors, providing information to officers, and alerting various other LVMPD Area Command radio channels of the ongoing emergency. Chelsey Jenkins was on the phones, gathering the essential information from callers about the incident and helping Alicia with the best information to provide to officers.”

The post continued, “This department could not have pulled this incredible rescue and saved Enzo’s life without the professionalism and extreme skill of Metro Police Dispatch. They are the heroes you don’t see, but during this #NationalPublicSafetyTelecommunicatorsWeek, we salute their dedication to protecting this community, including our doggos. 💙 BTW: Enzo continues to recover and we sincerely appreciate all of the messages and well-wishes we’ve received!”

They also posted this video, “As #NationalPublicSafetyTelecommunicatorsWeek rolls on, we wanted to share the extraordinary care that Jessica Anderson provided to a teen who wanted to end his own life. In this call from March 2024, LVMPD 911 Communications Police Dispatch Professional Jessica Anderson cared for a teen boy who was going through a tough time. As she says in this video, her heart was beating so fast, that she could almost hear it in her ears as got the information she needed to get officers dispatched. ‘Especially when you are a parent, you relate it to your own kids. If that was my son, how would I want someone to treat him or handle him.’ Thank you, Jessica for helping this young man and treating the situation so carefully and professionally! 💙”

They also posted this video, “Emergency Empathy at LVMPD 911 Communications! We wanted to share this excellent example of humanity during #NationalPublicSafetyTelecommunicatorsWeek. Recently, LVMPD’s Brianna Brez was taking her last call of the day when a frantic mother called saying her son was potentially overdosing. Brez got the important information from the mom and rushed LVMPD officers to the scene. She handled the situation calmly and with care. The victim lived thanks to the quick actions of first responders. It’s important to note that LVMPD Dispatch takes ALL 911 calls routed to our jurisdiction. Our call takers will then conference with the Fire Dispatch office for medical or fire services, as was the case in this situation.”
