I.U.P.A. Local Indianapolis Airport Police Officers Association, #71’s Executive Board, alongside I.U.P.A. attorney Daniel Bowman, negotiated successfully to achieve significant pay increases and enhanced benefits!
I.U.P.A. Local Indianapolis Airport Police Officers Association, #71 President Michael Moore stated, “I.U.P.A. Local #71 is pleased with the successful negotiations of our new contract. Past President David Bowles started the negotiations and led the way. President Michael Moore and Vice President Ben Ely took up the torch and drove the negotiations home. We’ve learned a lot with this round and look forward to our next round of negotiations. We hope to make even more positive strides to create a world-class working environment.”
On this, attorney Bowman stated, “the greater Indianapolis area is a highly competitive job market for first responders, and these numbers reflect significant efforts to boost officer recruitment and retention at the Indianapolis airport.”
Some of the bigger contract gains negotiated for include:
- 32% base wage increase over 3 years, including a 37% increase for new officers seeking their state Tier 1 law enforcement certification
- 20%-27.5% increase in longevity pay
- An increase in the cap on specialty pays from $1,500 to $6,000
- Establishment of a Post Employment Health Plan/VEBA in which excess vacation time can be contributed for future healthcare-related expenses
- Establishment of a foreign language incentive program for officers who become proficient in designated languages
- Codified retiree access to range training/live fire sessions
I.U.P.A. Local Indianapolis Airport Police Officers Association, #71’s members ratified the contract by an overwhelming majority. The new terms will go into effect January 1, 2025.
