I.U.P.A. General Counsel Maria Kazouris conducted I.U.P.A. Legal Trainings in the City of Port Saint Lucie, Florida and Broward County, Florida!

Training consisted of:

  • Information about union benefits from speaker Amanda Hergenreder, I.U.P.A.’s Union Plus Liaison, who explained how to navigate the Union Plus website and about discounts on legal programs, shopping, travel, and educational costs.
  • Information about qualified immunity in the current political climate from I.U.P.A. Regional Vice President Scott Johnson who also covered how to run a local union and organizing for power.
  • I.U.P.A. Attorney Richard Weiner discussed a variety of legal topics, including Loudermill Hearings, how to handle grievances, and an in-depth explanation of how arbitration works.
  • I.U.P.A. General Counsel Maria Kazouris spoke on a number of topics. She discussed the importance of Critical Incident Representation, the difference between a criminal and administrative investigation, and how to ensure that a member’s rights are afforded. Kazouris then discussed the Law Enforcement Officers Bill of Rights and Drug Suspensions and Investigations.
