The Sarasota Police Department is very active in their community and have events regularly in order to connect with children and adults in the city they protect and serve. Recently, they had two events with kids from the Y Summer Camp.
On July 22, their SWAT Team, K-9 Teams, and Community Action Team had a great day with the youngsters. SWAT set up a junior SWAT obstacle course and had a show and tell with the SWAT vehicles and some of the equipment they use. Kids also had a chance to meet a few of Sarasota’s K-9s. The Community Action Team officers helped kids through the obstacle course and answered all sorts of questions from the kids about being a police officer and what goes into serving and protecting a city.
On July 30, members of the (C.A.T.) Community Action Team, K-9, and SWAT were at the Robert L. Taylor Community Center for a bit of Summer Camp Fun. There was a K-9 demonstration as well as an opportunity for campers to run the junior SWAT obstacle course. Campers were also able to go inside and explore the SWAT MedCat. It was a great day for everyone.
On Facebook, the department posted about their time with the kids, “This is our why. ?? This is one of the many reasons we choose to serve this incredible city. We’re grateful for the relationships and friendships we create at community events like this. ??”
