Haley Stewart is the daughter of Dena Stewart, a dispatcher and member of I.U.P.A. local Denham Springs Union of Police, and Chris Stewart, a retired police officer and I.U.P.A. Executive Director. Haley is currently pursuing her undergraduate degree at Louisiana State University and plans to become an attorney.

Haley wrote to the I.U.P.A. to say thank you for the scholarship and share about how the scholarship has assisted her in her academic endeavors.

I am so honored and excited to have been chosen for the I.U.P.A. scholarship. The extra funds have helped with books, a meal plan, and transportation costs. It has been a great help in my college career as a freshman.

I recommend that every eager student that has a passion for union issues and the law to apply for this award.

Once again, thanks to everyone involved in the decision on the applications. It has been meaningful so far and I look forward to a great experience at LSU.

In her application essay, Ms. Stewart wrote, “I am looking forward to all of the knowledge and growth I will experience as I progress with my education. I dream of someday being a lawyer and giving a voice to others. I value education and believe it is an important factor in my life.”

Haley’s teacher, Ms. Angelle Domingue Terrell of the Social Studies Department of Saint Joseph’s Academy was extremely complimentary in her letter of recommendation, “I am writing to express my utmost recommendation of Haley Stewart to your institution. I was honored when Haley asked me to write a letter on her behalf. I think you will find through this account that Haley is set apart from her peers in academic and character standards.”

On the occasion of Ms. Stewart being selected as an I.U.P.A. Scholar, Daniel Boudreaux, President of the Louisiana Law Enforcement Association, said, “Haley is a very promising and impressive young lady. The Louisiana Law Enforcement Association is extremely proud of her and her choice of a career in which she will be an advocate for justice.”

The I.U.P.A. wishes Ms. Haley Stewart and our other I.U.P.A. Scholars much success in their academic goals and in their promising future careers!
