I.U.P.A. Local Defiance Police Officers Assn., #166 Members taught kids at Cadet Camp about police work. The local raises funds annually to fund Cadet Camp through their annual golf fundraiser.

Defiance Police Department posted on day one of the camp, “It’s camp week for the Defiance Police Department Cadets! This is a youth program where members of the DPD mentor and teach the participants different aspects of the Law Enforcement Profession. All 23 participants arrived yesterday, and got a chance to explore the camp, before coming together for their first meal.”

On day two, the department shared, “Day 2 for the Defiance PD Cadets was a full day of gun safety and basic marksmanship training. The Cadets ended the day with a movie and bonfire.”

On day three, the department posted, “On day three of camp, the Defiance Police Cadets put their pistol shooting skills to the test. After receiving one on one instructions from the Cadre, the Cadets competed in a marksmanship challenge. Check back Tuesday to see who the winner was!”

The department shared on day four, “On day four of Cadet Camp, the cadets returned to the range. This time, the focus was on rifle marksmanship. Each cadet received one on one instruction and competed for the rifle marksmanship award. After the range, officers met with and mentored campers. After dinner, instructors and cadets competed in a cornhole tournament.”

On day five, the department shared, “Yesterday at Camp Palmer, the Defiance Police Cadets conducted baton training, participated in scenario training, and got a visit from K-9 Mojo. Afterwards, the cadets took canoes and kayaks out on Harrison Lake.”

The department posted on the final day of the camp, “On the last full day of DPD Cadet Camp, the cadets had a pancake breakfast with Mayor McCann, City Administrator Ryan Mack, and Detective Sergeant Dave Richards. After breakfast, they braved the high ropes course and had a bonfire awards ceremony. The winners for the Marksmanship Challenge were the girls’ group, and Sparrow Kern!”
