Toledo Police Patrolman’s Assn., I.U.P.A. Local #10 Members played chess with kids from the Toledo, Ohio community in the third annual Cops Versus Kids Chess Tournament!

The Cops Versus Kids Chess Tournament brought together kids from the community, Ohio State Patrol officers, and officers from the Toledo Police Department. The game teaches the kids strategy and builds bonds with the officers, the department, and the community. It also allows the kids to cut loose and have a little fun with the officers.

Cops Versus Kids Chess Tournament has a Facebook event page with more information here. 13 Action News also picked up the story here. Toledo Public Schools shared on social media about the event, “Check, mate: it’s the annual Cops vs. Kids chess tournament held at Jones Leadership Academy of Business last evening.” and the Toledo Police Department proudly shared the post.

As stated in this news report, “Cops and Kids Chess 2025” from WTOL11, the officers and the kids had a great time. One of the officers even joked to a reporter that the only downside is that they don’t always enjoy the outcome of the game (if they lose), but even in that case everyone is coming out on top.
