The I.U.P.A. recently put out a press release, “Statement of President Cabral Regarding I.U.P.A. Member and I.U.P.A. Family Member Being Awarded 2024 Union Plus Scholarships” about two very impressive ladies who were awarded the 2024 Union Plus Scholarship! Sophia Grace Finnegan-Ayala of Milwaukee. Finnegan-Ayala, whose father, Alex Ayala, is a member of I.U.P.A. Local 21, has been awarded a $2,000 scholarship. Ashley Hope Smith of North Syracuse, New York. Smith, who is a member of I.U.P.A. I.U.P.A. Local Fort Myers Police Officers Association, #6065, along with their I.U.P.A. Attorney Bradley Rothman, have been busy since certification in May of 2022 as the bargaining agent for Fort Myers Police Department officers, sergeants, lieutenants, and telecommunication operators. Although a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) had been settled prior to that under the former bargaining agent, the Florida PBA, the membership remained unhappy with it, and filed with the Public Employees Representation Commission (PERC) for certification with I.U.P.A.
