New York State Investigator Christopher Quick and his K9 KB around the time of their service at Ground Zero from September 12 through the beginning of October in 2001. KB was named after Trooper Kenneth B. Knapp. It has always been customary for K9s in the department to be named after fallen officers. Daytona Beach Police Officer Jason Raynor was honored by race fans this past weekend who signed messages onto his patrol car where it was parked in One Daytona's Victory Circle prior to the Coke Zero Sugar 400 race. Officer Raynor died from his injuries on August 17, 55 days after he was shot in the head by a suspect while on duty. Terre Haute Police Detective and FBI Task Force Officer, Gregory Ferency, was shot and killed outside the FBI Resident Agency Office on July 7, 2021. After hearing of the tragedy, the Street Department of Terre Haute, Indiana took it upon themselves to show their support by painting a thin blue line down the center of Wabash Avenue in front of the Terre Haute Police Department. They did not tell anyone they were doing so, nor seek any credit. They simply wanted their local officers to know they were appreciated and supported.
